Red Iron Quartz gets its color from red oxidized inclusions of Hematite in quartz; therefore the mineral is also called Hematite Quartz or Hematoid Quartz. The color of the stone has also led to the name Strawberry Quartz, which is sometimes used in the retail and wholesale trade. Iron Quartz is also called Iron Quartz, Hemantoite, Lepidocrocite or Harlequin Quartz. In English-speaking countries, the red-orange Iron Quartz is also incorrectly referred to as Peach Aventurine (orange). The term hematoid/hematite is taken from the English language.
