The mineral Kunzite was named after its discoverer Geroge Frederick Kunz (1856-1932), a well-known American gemologist. An employee of the famous jeweler Tiffany, Kunz discovered the mineral in 1903 in Pala, California. Spellings like Kunziet, Kunzite or Cuncit are therefore not correct.
