Origin of the rough material for the drilled Shattuckite freeforms: Kaokoveld Plateau, Namibia

The mineral was first discovered in the Shattuck Mine near Bisbee (Arizona, USA) and was first described in 1915 by the mineralogist and geologist Waldemar Theodore Schaller (1882 - 1967). Schaller then named the newly discovered mineral after the type locality, i.e. the first place where it was found. Spellings such as shattuckite, shattukite, shattukite or shatukite are therefore incorrect.

As it often contains three other minerals such as quartz, Malachite and chrysocolla in addition to Shattuckite, the stone is also referred to as Quantum Quattro in esoteric literature from the English-speaking world.
