Incluse quartz crystals are very special Rock Crystals: In nature there are almost no 100% pure Rock Crystals, but mostly pieces in which liquids, gases, sediments or other minerals are included. Most of the time these inclusions are tiny and can be seen with the naked eye only as a small, natural disturbance in the pure crystal. Sometimes the inclusions create a completely new mineral, such as rutile or tourmaline quartz. Initially, slow cooling of siliceous solutions produces fine rutile fibers or schorl crystals. As the solution cools further, these are then enclosed by the slowly forming Rock Crystal. Each quartz locality in the world has a unique mineralogical "fingerprint" due to the nature of the inclusions, reflecting the geological conditions of its formation.
