It is a volcanic rock breccia with the components Serpentine, Phlogopite, Pyroxenes, Rutile and Garnet. Kimberlite shows different shades of gray-green with black to olive green spots and textures, sometimes white veins. You can feel and see the explosive formation of this power stone.

Kimberlite was named after the South African city Kimberley; in retail as well as in wholesale occasionally encountered spellings such as Kimbalite, Kumbalite or Kimberlite are therefore not correct. A synonym for Kimberlite which is not in use today is Blaugrund.
