The colorful iridescent Mother of Pearl of the Paua Shell (Haliotis Iris) from New Zealand was used for this piece of jewelry. The Paua Shell was already known to the Maori, the indigenous people of New Zealand, and was coveted as a delicacy and magnificent jewelry material. Today, the shells are cultivated on farms. No endangered species are used for the jewelry in the Oceanjewels range.
