The dark purple faceted buttons made of amethyst are about 4.5mm thick and have a diameter of 8mm. The total length of the amethyst strand is about 40cm.
Dark amethyst is used in stone healing in situations where alertness, awareness and constructive thinking and action are required.
The name amethyst is derived from the Greek word amethystos (counteracting intoxication) and refers to the traditional belief that with an amethyst one is protected against the intoxicating effects of wine and other alcohol. Spellings such as Amathyst, Amethist, Ametist, Ametyhst, Ametyst, Amnethyst, Amthyst or Amythist are therefore incorrect.
