Faceted onyx beads are very versatile to use in the manufacture of gemstone jewelry. Especially the small spheres with a diameter of 3mm are suitable for (multi-row) bracelets and necklaces as well as for earrings.
The faceted onyx beads have a diameter of about 3mm; the onyx strand is about 40cm long. To achieve an intense black color, the onyx beads are dyed.
The name Onyx is derived from the Greek word "onyx" for "nail"; presumably this name, which has been in use for many centuries, refers to the surface of the polished stone, which resembles shiny fingernails. Spellings like onix or onyk are therefore not correct.
