In the Saturn spheres, a polished ring can be seen on the frosted surface of the onyx sphere in the center.
The onyx beads (gef.) have a diameter of 10mm; with a length of about 40cm the onyx strand is enough for the production of two bracelets, for example.
The name Onyx is derived from the Greek word "onyx" for "nail"; presumably this name, which has been in use for many centuries, refers to the surface of the polished stone, which is reminiscent of shiny fingernails. Spellings like onix or onyk are therefore not correct.
