The fluorite buttons have an intense color; besides various shades of purple, the strand contains mainly green buttons. The buttons are a good 2mm thick and have a diameter of about 4mm.
The total length of the fluorite strand is about 39cm.

The name fluorite is derived from the Latin fluere (to flow) and refers to the mining term fluorspar for fluorite. Spellings such as floride, florite, flouride, fluorite or fluride are therefore incorrect.
