The faceted slices of fluorite are about 2mm thick and have a diameter of about 3.0 - 3.5mm; total length of the fluorite strand about 39cm.
The transparent color spectrum ranges from light white to yellow, light green, purple and darker purple.
The name fluorite is derived from the Latin fluere (to flow) and refers to the mining term fluorspar for fluorite. Spellings like floride, florite, fluoride, fluorite or fluride are therefore not correct.
