The hearts are about 10mm long and drilled from top to bottom; the entire chain strand of fluorite has a length of about 40cm.

The name fluorite is derived from the Latin fluere (to flow) and refers to the mining term fluorspar for fluorite. Spellings such as floride, florite, flouride, fluorite or fluride are therefore not correct.
