The slices of black tourmaline crystals are about 4-7mm thick and 6-10mm in diameter. Many of the small tourmalines show the typical grooves of the mineral on the sides.
The whole strand of schorl is about 40cm long.
Tourmaline (black) is considered a classic protective stone, as the mineral promotes inner serenity and shields against external influences. The stone variety conveys a clear, rational attitude of mind, so that from a position of strength all resistance and adversity can be overcome.
