Yellow-cream & red-brown - and faceted!

This Mookaite strand shows the typical range of Mookaite from light cream-yellow to pink and dark red-brown. The faceted buttons are about 2mm thick and 4mm in diameter; the whole strand has a length of about 38cm.

Mookaite (chert) is used in stone healing to strengthen variety, fun and intense experiences. The stone helps to develop alternatives and then flexibly select the appropriate option.

The name "Mookaite" is derived from the largest site of the mineral in the Kennedy Range, about 1000km north of the Western Australian capital Perth. Mookaite is mined there along Mooka Creek. "Mooka" means "flowing water" in the Aboriginal language and refers to the numerous springs in the area. Spellings such as Mokaite, Mokaid, Mokaait or Moukait are therefore incorrect. The only synonym for Mookaite at present is Australian Jasper.
