Strand Chinese knot, Mother of Pearl (dark), 13 x 13mm

Dark, shimmering Mother of Pearl has been used to cut the Chinese knots for this strand. The flat nodes are 2mm high and 13 x 13mm in size; the entire strand is about 40cm long and consists of about 31 Mother of Pearl nodes.

What is particularly attractive about the elements of this Mother of Pearl strand is that the nodes are light on one side and dark on the other.

The knot pattern of Mother of Pearl strand is inspired by Chinese folk art of Tang and Song Dynasty (960 to 1279). Since that time, knots have been a popular decorative element in jewelry, on clothing and in carvings.
