Great quality - on the flat discs the structure of the Hypersthene comes out particularly well!
Diameter of the flat round discs about 20mm, thickness about 6mm. Length of the entire gemstone strand about 40cm.
Hypersthene got its name from the Greek "hyper" (over) and "stheos" (strength); this refers to the greater hardness compared to the closely related Bronzite. Spellings like hyperstene or hyperstehne are therefore not correct.
In 1988, Hypersthene was renamed Ferrosilite by the International Mineralogical Association. Synonyms for Hypersthene are Augite Bronzite, Iron Anthophyllite, Iron Enstatite, Ferroanthophyllite, Ficinite, Labrador Blende, Paulite, Schillerspat and Szaboite as well as Hyperstein.
