The raw tourmaline chips are bright pink and about 5 x 8mm in size; the total length of the tourmaline strand is 40cm.
Pink tourmaline (rubellite) is popularly used in stone healing to strengthen sociability and emphatic devotion to an endeavor.
The name rubellite is derived from the Latin word "rubellus" (red); spellings such as rubelite, rubbelite or rubellite are therefore incorrect. Since the Urals were the most important locality for Rubellite until the 1920s, the synonym "Siberian Ruby" is still occasionally found in the literature.
