A greeting from the sea!

The drop-shaped design pendant with the mabe pearl is approx. 5.8 x 3.6cm; inner diameter of the eyelet approx. 4mm.

The domed cabochon with the pearl weighs about 22ct and measures about 45 x 35mm. The bezel setting and the eyelet of the pearl pendant are made of highly polished platinum plated silver 925; silver weight 1.75g.

Mabé pearls are a special type of cultured pearls; they are also called cultured shell or cultured blister pearls.

Mabe pearls get their name from the mollusk "Mabe-Gai" (Pteria penguin) in which they grow. Unlike many other pearls, the Mabe pearl grows on the inside of the mollusk shell. This is how the typical shape of these pearls is formed: Flat on one side, semicircular curved on the other; therefore, this shape is also called half pearl. Very attractive are also pieces of jewelry, in which in addition to the actual pearl, the shell surrounding it is also used.
