Safety and quality for your gemstones - the Lapis Vitalis product promise

The following quality criteria are essential for us in the product development and manufacture of Lapis Vitalis® articles:

Selected rough materials

Thanks to decades of relationships with rough stone dealers and mine owners as well as on-site inspections, we can guarantee the consistently high quality of Lapis Vitalis® products. Marco Schreier personally checks the quality of the raw materials and their processing on numerous trips.

In-house production

In order to be able to offer our wholesale customers a consistently outstanding quality of our products, we have set up our own cutting shop with around 50 employees. We produce a whole range of gemstones in our ecologically oriented company and pay attention to safety and fair working conditions.

Development from practice for practice

By working together with leading experts, we ensure that the products have already passed the test in practice. Many of our product developers have been working with gemstones for decades. This invaluable experience has not only been channelled into numerous books and training courses, but also into the Lapis Vitalis® products.

Certified and controlled stone quality - GKS

GKS is the abbreviation for  Gemmologisch Kontrollierte Steinqualität (Gemmologically Controlled Stone Quality) and is a control mark for the quality of gemstones and jewellery stones. It is awarded and controlled by the independent Gemstone Testing Institute on the basis of established guidelines.

The EPI laboratory awards the GKS seal completely independently of membership of associations and other interest groups. The GKS certification system is based on the nomenclature and declaration rules of RAL (RG560) and CIBJO (Blue Book). It also takes into account the current CITES species protection agreements and introduces declaration regulations for toxic and harmful minerals and gemstones. This makes it currently the most comprehensive system for naming minerals and gemstones and for declaring artificial changes in properties in Europe.

Due to their mineralogical properties, some types of stone must be treated during the manufacture of a product, e.g. black tourmaline. Without stabilisation of the raw material, numerous popular gemstone items such as massage styluses and donuts cannot be produced from the very porous black tourmaline (schorl). This necessary treatment is indicated on the corresponding items in our web shop, in the sales exhibition in Ludwigsburg and on the invoices with the addition ‘stab.’ for stabilised.

All gemstones are labelled with their correct mineralogical name in our webshop. This is why, for example, we sell the popular leopard skin jasper under the name leopard stone/meta rhyolite.

The independent gemstone testing institute EPI (www.epigem.de) regularly checks compliance with the guidelines. The Lapis Vitalis® range is GKS-certified as a result of these inspections, which can also be unannounced.
