Thulite is created by the transformation of manganese ore and Feldspar to manganese oisite.
The mineral Thulite was given its name in 1823 by the London mineralogist Henry James Brooke. It was named after the legendary island of Thule, the northern end of the world in Germanic mythology. The name was probably chosen because at the beginning of the 19th century there was only one known localities of Thulite in Norway. The spellings tulite, thulite, thuilite or thullite are therefore incorrect. A rarely used synonym for Thulite is Unionite.

Hello! My name is Marco Schreier, I am the stone-loving founder of the Mineralienhandlung GmbH of the same name. My career in the field of gemstones, precious stones, pearls and designer jewelry only began relatively late.
Originally, my attention was focused on collector's minerals, then on polished stone products such as tumbled stones, etc. Later, drilled stones were added, which, worn on a leather strap, were the first jewelry we offered.
