The dark Labradorite belongs to the Feldspar group. The subjects for which the dark Labradorite is used in stone healing are reflection and truth, intuition, depth of feeling and mental gifts.
In the 18th century, the first Labradorites arrived in Europe after they were found on the Canadian Labrador Peninsula in 1770. Czech missionary Father Adolf found the first pieces there when the Herrnhuters established numerous settlements on the forest-covered peninsula in the Atlantic Ocean. The mineral was given its name "Labradorite" in 1832 by the French mineralogist and professor François Bedaunt (1787 - 1850) because of its location on the Labrador Peninsula. Occasionally encountered spellings such as labardorite, labradoride, labradoriet, labradorite, labratorite or lapradorite are therefore incorrect.
