Striking Azurite Malachite donuts featuring rich, intense dark blue, green patches, and just a hint of brown Bedrock! The natural interplay of blue Azurite, green Malachite, and the host rock makes each donut a one-of-a-kind piece.
Since the donuts are carefully hand-cut from suitable rough pieces in our cutting workshop, they may vary slightly in size and shape. The diameter is approximately 3.0–3.2 cm.
The hole in the center allows you to thread a donut spiral through it, for example. This makes it quick and easy to wear the stone donuts as jewelry.
Why is Azurite Malachite stabilized?
Azurite Malachite is a relatively delicate material. Its various mineral components and natural bedrock can create areas with differing degrees of hardness and strength. When sawing, cutting, and drilling, suitable rough pieces could therefore more easily break, chip, or split along natural structures.
To sufficiently strengthen the material and enable reliable processing, Azurite Malachite is stabilized before cutting. During this process, a clear stabilizing agent penetrates porous and less solid areas, thereby strengthening the material. The characteristic dark blue and green color comes from the natural stone and is not produced by the stabilization process.
This process, which is standard in gemstone processing, is transparently indicated in the wholesale web shop with the label “(stab.)”.
