In gemstone medicine, sunstone is used when a stone with an encouraging effect is needed. Sunstone strengthens an optimistic attitude towards life and directs the view to the sunny sides of life. The own strengths and abilities are (again) more strongly perceived.
The mineralogical name for sunstone is aventurine Feldspar; the reddish color and the glitter are caused by tiny inclusions of Hematite and other iron oxides. A nowadays obsolete name for sunstone is heliolite or heliotite.
