Atacama opal is an Opalite-Chrysocoll-Chalcedony mixture whose intense green-blue color is caused by Copper. Where the rough is found (near CopiapĆ³ and Paipote in the RegiĆ³n de Atacama, northern Chile), the stone is known as Atacama Opalite or Atacama Opalite; this name has also become established in the international mineral trade.
The small deposits of atacama opal are mainly processed into jewelry. For this reason, there are no reliable findings on the use of atacama opal in gemstone healing.
