Platonic Solids - the special gift set!
Our Platonic Solids are modeled on geometric solids and do not claim to be absolutely exact, as they are all cut by hand. The set consists of five amethyst solids with a diameter of approx. 2 cm and an explanatory card on the symbolism of geometry.
The symbolism of the shapes:
The four Platonic Solids tetrahedron, octahedron, icosahedron and cube symbolize the four elements fire, air, water and earth. The only body that cannot be built up from triangles, the dodecahedron, symbolizes the all-encompassing universe or the all-connecting "proportion", the divine harmony. In their entirety, the Platonic Solids are a symbolic image of creation and its principle.
The set of Platonic Solids consists of:
+ Tetrahedron (tetrahedron; four triangles)
+ hexahedron (hexahedron; six squares, cubes)
+ octahedron (octahedron; eight triangles)
+ Dodecahedron (twelve-sided; twelve pentagons, pentagon dodecahedron)
+ icosahedron (twenty-square; twenty triangles)
The name amethyst is derived from the Greek word amethystos (counteracting intoxication) and refers to the traditional belief that an amethyst protects against the intoxicating effects of wine and other alcohol. Spellings such as Amathyst, Amethist, Ametist, Ametyhst, Ametyst, Amnethyst, Amthyst or Amythist are therefore incorrect.
