Large Palmstone Rhodonite A/B (Peru)

A special kind of hand flatterer: this beautiful Large Palmstone has been cut from Peruvian Rhodonite. The intense pink-pink color of the mineral is broken up by inclusions in white, brown and black, so that each Large Palmstone is unique in its visual effect and grain. There are significantly more black inclusions in the A/B quality than in the A quality.

The region of origin for the Rhodonite is in the central Peruvian Andes (Huánuco region (Departamento de Huanuco).

The first scientific description of Rhodonite was made in 1819 by the German naturalist Christoph Friedrich Jasche. The pink color inspired Jasche to name it "Rhodonite", which is derived from the Greek word "rhodon" for rose or rose scent. Occasional spellings such as rhodonite, rodonite or rodonite are therefore incorrect.
