According to the international nomenclature, the mineralogically correct name for Onyx Marble is Calcite-Aragonite or Aragonite-Calcite, while Onyx Marble (Aragonite Calcite) is the common trade name. Other names commonly used in retail and wholesale are calconyx, calcite-alabaster, ribbon marble, aragonite marble, chalcedonyx onyx or marble onyx. The spelling onix marble, however, is not correct.
