The rough stones are polished on one side, the rest is unpolished.
Size of the atacama opals approx. 6 - 8 cm.
Atacamaopal is an Opalite-Chrysocoll-Chalcedony mixture whose intense green-blue color is caused by Copper. Where the rough is found (near Copiapó and Paipote in the Región de Atacama, northern Chile), the stone is known as Atacama Opal or Atacama Opalite; this name has also become established in the international mineral trade.
