The necklace is threaded from faceted spinel beads (diameter 2mm) and is 45cm long in total. The spinel necklace clasp is made of 925 silver.
In gemstone healing, black Spinel is used to strengthen structured thinking and consistency in action; the black mineral brings constuctive energy and modesty.
There are two theories for the origin of the name Spinel: Spinel is either derived from the Greek "spin(n)os" (to sparkle) or from the Latin "spinella" (small thorn). Various spellings of the mineral have been used in Europe since the 16th century, e.g. Spynell, Spinella and Spinellus. Today the spelling Spinel is common, occasionally also Spinnell can be found.
