The name "Chalcopyrite" (also written Chalcopyrit) means Copper-Pyrite (Greek Chalkos = Copper). Chalcopyrite is brassy yellow, but oxidizes and tarnishes. Therefore chalcopyrite is also called peacock ore or peacock ore.

Because of the iridescent colors very popular! Very well suited for crustle baskets on markets!
