Due to the intense color very popular and well suited for mineral stores and market stalls.
Chalcopyrite is also sometimes incorrectly referred to as Pyrite Agate. The name "Chalcopyrite" (also spelled chalcopyrite) means copper pyrite (Greek chalkos = copper). Chalcopyrite is brass-yellow, but oxidizes and tarnishes. This is why the colorful chalcopyrite is also known as peacock ore and peacock ore.
