Chinese lucky symbol for prosperity and success: "The lucky fish"
The lucky fish has a prominent place in the Chinese tradition of special auspicious symbols for prosperity and career.
Goldfish in particular, but also other brightly colored Pisces, are considered symbols of good fortune. The tradition stems from the phonetic similarity between the two characters KUM and YU. These stand for goldfish as well as for Gold and opulence. In addition to material prosperity, healthy, well-fed Pisces also symbolize marital happiness and harmony. Depictions of Pisces were often part of wedding gifts.
