The approx. 150 million year old fossil comes from Madagascar; diameter of the fossil approx. 4.5 cm, total length of the wine stopper approx. 10.5 cm.

Perisphinctes are a genus of ammonites that lived in the middle to late Jurassic period. Ammonites were marine cephalopods, primitive squid. Usually only the shells of the ammonites are preserved as fossils. These have the shape of a flat, coiled spiral.
