This bottle stopper is crowned by a real ammonite!

The approx. 150 million year old fossil comes from Madagascar; diameter of the fossilization approx. 4.5cm, total length wine stopper approx. 10.5cm.

Perisphinctes are a genus of ammonites, which lived in the middle to late Jurassic epoch. Ammonites were sea-dwelling cephalopods, primitive squids. From the ammonites mostly only the shells are preserved as fossils. These have the form of a flat, rolled up spiral.
