Other names for Calcite are Kalkspat/Kalkspath, Kalkstein, Doppelspat and Seekreide. The vernacular calls the calcite also leg break stone. Of the various possible spellings, e.g. calcite, calcite, calcite, or calcide, the spelling calcite, which is in common use in the wholesale trade today, has prevailed. The yellow Calcite, from which these Calcite lights were made, is also called Goldcalcite.
