In gemstone healing, Chrome Diopside is used when a stone is required to promote inspiration and to strengthen vitality, harmony and joie de vivre.
The name Diopside is derived from the Greek word "dis" (double) and "opsis" (to look at) and indicates that Diopside crystals often occur as Gemini.
The mineral was first described in 1800 by José Bonifácio de Andrada e Silva under the name coccolith, although this name is now considered obsolete. Derived from its English name, Chrome Diopside is also incorrectly spelled with the final letter T (Chrome Diopside).
