The nuggets of Dalmatian jasper are approx. 12 - 16 x 10 - 14mm in size; the length of the strand of Dalmatian Stone (aplite) is approx. 40cm.
The Dalmatian Stone is used in situations in which strengthening and reflection are required in order to think through projects well and then implement them powerfully.
The Dalmatian Stone takes its name from the dog breed of the same name with the dark dots on a light background. In mineralogy, Dalmatian Stone is known as aplite. According to studies by the Institute for Gemstone Testing, Dalmatian Stone is a white to light gray, fine-grained, sometimes zoned gangue rock, which consists mainly of potassium feldspar and quartz. The black spots in the rock are amphibole.
The mineralogical name for Dalmatian jasper is Hornblende or Aplite; the name Porphyry or Porphyrite for Dalmatian Stone, which is occasionally found in retail and wholesale trade, is not mineralogically correct.
