The light green translucent nuggets of prehnite are about 10mm long, about 5mm thick and largely devoid of the black Hornblende inclusions otherwise common in prehnite.

With a total length of about 40cm the strand of prehnite is well suited to thread e.g. a necklace or two bracelets.

The increase of the acceptance - itself and anderne opposite - is the central application area of the Prehnit in the gemstone lore. Even unpleasant truths can be accepted more easily with the help of the gemstone.

The mineral Prehnite got its name after Colonel Hendrik von Prehn (1733 - 1785); spellings like Phrenite, Prenhite, Prenith or Phrenite are therefore not correct. Von Prehn brought back samples from the Cape of Good Hope in 1783 and had them examined by the mineralogist Abraham Gottlob Werner. He described the material and named it Prehnite after von Prehn. The stone is the first mineral that is named after a person.

Trade names for the Prehn are cape chrysolite and cape emerald, earlier common names are aedelite, chiltonite, coupholite and edelite.
