Strand slice/coin, Tanzanite, faceted, 04mm (39cm)

The faceted slices of AA-quality tanzalite are approx. 2mm thick and have a diameter of 4mm; the entire tanzanite strand is 39cm long.

Tanzanite is the blue-violet variety of Zoisite.

Tanzanite is a fairly newly discovered mineral; the first finds were made in 1967 in northern Tanzanite; these also gave the stone its name. In Germany, the spelling Tanzanite has become common, Tanzanite is also rarely found. The only common syonym is iron zoisite.
