The Mookaite strand consists of 4mm cube beads in the typical yellow-pink-red shades.
The strands are 40cm long and are strung together for transportation. We recommend always replacing the transport thread with suitable knotting material.
The name "Mookaite" is derived from the largest deposit of the mineral in the Kennedy Range, about 1000km north of the Western Australian capital Perth. Mookaite is mined there along the Mooka Creek. In the Aboriginal language, "Mooka" means "flowing water" and refers to the numerous springs in the area. Spellings such as Mokaite, Mokaid, Mokaait or Moukait are therefore incorrect. The only synonym for Mookaite is currently Australian jasper.
