The natural salt chunks are ideal for preparing brine.

The salt comes from the famous Salt Range in the north-east of Pakistan (Punjab province), about 160 km from Islamabad and 260 km from Lahore. The salt mines around Kehwra are located in a foothill of the Himalayas, but are not directly associated with the Himalayan massif. Alexander salt is therefore also known commercially as "Himalayan salt" or "Himalayan salt".

Importers in Switzerland must have an import permit from the Vereinigte Schweizerische Rheinsalinen for the Halite.
