The faceted cabochon made of sparkling black Spinel has a diameter of 8mm.

The entire pendant made of rhodiniert silver 925 is 10mm in size, the hole in the setting of the stone is 3mm in size.

There are two theories for the origin of the name Spinel: Spinel is either derived from the Greek "spin(n)os" (to sparkle) or from the Latin "spinella" (small thorn). Various spellings of the mineral have been used in Europe since the 16th century, e.g. Spynell, Spinella and Spinellus. Today the spelling Spinel is common, occasionally also Spinnell can be found.
