Modern Amazon pendant with an unusually cut gemstone.
The gemstone pendant measures approx. 3.4 x 1.1 cm.
Size of the rectangular Slabs approx. 22 x 11mm, stone weight of dark Amazonite from Russia approx. 7.35ct.
Half bezel setting and eyelet (inner diameter 5mm) are made of highly polished, rhodiniert silver 925; silver weight 1.97g.
The mineral takes its name from the Amazon River or the Amazon people: The explorer Alexander von Humboldt found a mysterious green stone among the indigenous people on the Rio Negro, which was initially called "Amazon stone" or "Amazon stone". Although the stone that von Humboldt brought back from South America was Nephrite, various green stones were soon referred to as Amazon Stone (or Amazonite).
