A great pendant made from the protective stone black tourmaline:
The disc measures approx. 20 x 15mm and was cut from a large tourmaline crystal and fitted with a prong setting.
The Tourmaline (black) pendant measures approx. 3.0 x 1.7cm; the inner diameter of the eyelet is 5mm.
The prong setting and eyelet are made from highly polished, rhodiniert silver 925; silver weight approx. 2.88g.
Tourmaline (black) is very crumbly and unstable in its natural state, meaning that only very small pieces can be cut from the raw material. However, as it is indispensable due to its effects, expert cutters have developed a process with which the black tourmaline can be further processed: The rough pieces are placed in a resin bath before processing so that the porous material can soak up the resin. After drying, the rough stones can then be processed into slices and other popular shapes.
