Nephrite Earring, Cushion Cut, 3.9 cm, Gold-Plated

These striking earstuds featuring green Nephrite jade combine a modern geometric shape with the warm luster of gold-plated silver. At the center of each earstud is a 13 x 13 mm cushion-cut Nephrite cabochon. The cushion shape is square or angular with gently rounded corners, beautifully highlighting the green color and natural veining of the nephrite jade.

The nephrite cabochons are set in frames made of highly polished, gold-plated 925 silver. In this remote region, natural Nephrite boulders are found in areas such as the vicinity of the Dare River. Individual raw blocks can weigh between one and two metric tons. Since many sites are barely accessible by vehicle, large blocks are sometimes broken up by hand right on site. Smaller pieces are carried through the rugged terrain and then transported further by motorcycle. Its unique origin in the pristine landscape of Aceh and the fact that it is mined by hand make this nephrite jade a gemstone with an extraordinary history.
