Origin of the rough: Bekily, South Madagascar

In gemstone healing, dark Labradorite (dark) stands for the themes of reflection and truth; the supporting effect of the mineral can strengthen intuition and depth of feeling.

The first labradorites arrived in Europe in the 18th century after they were found on the Canadian peninsula of Labrador in 1770. The mineral was given its name "labradorite" in 1832 by the French mineralogist and professor François Bedaunt (1787 - 1850) due to its location on the Labrador Peninsula. Occasional spellings such as labardorite, labradoride, labradoriet, labradorite, labratorite or lapradorite are therefore incorrect. The labradorites with the most beautiful play of colors today mostly come from Madagascar.
