The drilled Honduras opal is approx. 4.6 cm in size and weighs approx. 10 g; the bore is approx. 3.4 mm.
Honduras opal, which is mined in a fair trade project, has only been on the market for a few years but is becoming increasingly popular as a gemstone. In gemstone healing, black opal is used to promote joie de vivre, confidence and the will to live, especially in life crises or adverse circumstances. It serves as a strong spiritual protection stone.
The finds from Honduras with flat, colorful, iridescent opal layers are also called veta opals.
