A special treasure of nature: banded agate lace with amethyst!
Size of the gemstone point approx. 13cm, weight approx. 0.48kg.
This Point clearly shows the history of the formation of Agate: Agate forms in volcanic rocks after they have cooled down. Liquid volcanic rock contains gases that form air bubbles of different sizes. Water containing silica penetrates these bubbles. This gradually solidifies and dries out.
One layer after the next is deposited, resulting in the many stripes and other patterns in Agate. In very special pieces, purple amethyst can also be found as the innermost layer, as in this unique piece.
