Gold-plated elements, a decorative clasp and dark purple Sugilite are the hallmarks of this gemstone necklace.
Length of the Sugilite necklace approx. 49.5 cm, Sugilite stone weight 438.2 ct.
The freeform drops of Sugilite are approx. 21- 28mm in size.
The chain hook clasp and the intermediate parts are made of gold-plated silver 925; silver weight 7g.
The first, very small Sugilite finds were made in 1944 by the Japanese professor Ken-ichi Sugi in Ehime Prefecture (Japan). A precise description was not made until a good thirty years later by a group of Japanese mineralogists in 1976, who named it after its discoverer Ken-ichi Sugi. The sometimes encountered spellings sugelite, sugulite or suggilite are therefore incorrect. In the trade, Sugilite is also known as New Age Stone or New Age Stone; a synonym for Sugilite is also Luvulite.

Hello! My name is Marco Schreier, I am the stone-loving founder of the Mineralienhandlung GmbH of the same name. My career in the field of gemstones, precious stones, pearls and designer jewelry only began relatively late.
Originally, my attention was focused on collector's minerals, then on polished stone products such as tumbled stones, etc. Later, drilled stones were added, which, worn on a leather strap, were the first jewelry we offered. With the establishment of our office in Bali, Indonesia in 2001 and shortly afterwards our office and company in Hong Kong, I created the basis for integrating many of my favorites such as special crystals, specially cut, rare gemstones, free-form cabochons, beads and pearls into my own jewelry.
