Smooth Stones made of banded evening red rhyolite are about 2.8 - 3.5cm in size.
Per packaging unit with 0.5kg you get approx. 40 - 45 striped Smooth Stones.
The evening red jasper from Java looks like a sun sinking into the sea. It is found in a former gold mine in Banten Forest in the west of the island of Java. This is now closed, but still in the area the banded rough stones are laboriously recovered by hand.
The different colored banding of the evening red jasper is caused by silicate deposits with different iron content; so the Java Sunset Jasper is a classic landscape jasper.

Because of the banding, the Evening Red Jasper is also called "Cake Jasper" or "Cheese Cake Jasper" at its place of discovery.
